Kate graduated magna cum laude from William & Mary School of Law in 2013. Since graduating, Kate has focused her practice on estate planning and administration, including for high net worth families and individuals, in Washington, DC and Virginia. From 2013 until 2017 Kate was an associate at Venable, LLP. In 2017, Kate joined McGuireWoods, LLP, where she was a senior associate until moving to Berlin, Germany with her family in the summer of 2020. Since relocating to Germany, Kate has become a freelance attorney, offering services to law firms and solo practitioners in need of assistance with estate planning, business succession, lifetime gifting, and related projects.
In addition to her extensive skills preparing estate planning, business succession planning, and lifetime gifting documents, Kate has experience preparing estate tax returns and helping families work through the post death transfer of assets in complex situations. Kate also has experience providing fiduciaries, both individual and corporate, with advice and helping them to administer trusts properly. During her tenure at Venable, Kate was awarded a fellowship at Bread for the City, in Washington, DC, where she represented survivors of domestic violence in family law matters in DC Superior Court. She now uses this knowledge of family law to help clients protect their assets in the event of family disputes.
